This session focuses on the opportunity that new antiretrovirals (ARVs) present to optimize treatment programs in resource-limited settings, drawing on experiences from countries currently introducing optimal ARV regimens, with a focus on dolutegravir. It will highlight the latest information on the clinical and programmatic implications of new product introduction, market and pipeline updates, and implementation practicalities including national policy change, forecast and tender planning, advocacy and training, service delivery, and enhanced monitoring of new products. This session appeals to policy makers and policy implementers who are looking to take advantage of optimal products to advance their programs and achieve value for money, practitioners who may wish to prescribe them in the future, advocates, and researchers. This session will provide rapid feedback to inform countries’ future product introduction strategies in order to accelerate access to simpler, safer, and more affordable HIV treatment.
